Opening Night Ceremony to Launch 2016 Season (Please note ceremonies postponed to April 15)

UPDATE:  Opening Night Ceremonies have been postponed to Friday April 15.  New information will be posted during the week of April 11.

The 2016 Zionsville Little League season is upon us and we look forward to kicking everything off Friday evening April 8 with our traditional Opening Night Ceremony!

For some teams, this may be the first time you meet your coaches and teammates. For others, you may have already gotten together a few times before now. Either way, opening night will be a great way for players and their teams to come together as we celebrate everyone that will play an important part in the 63rd year of Zionsville Little League.

The following are details that should be helpful for players and families that evening.

Opening Ceremonies will begin promptly at 6 pm with the Parade of Teams. The ceremony itself will take place on Field 1 which is in the far northwest corner of Lions Park near the tennis and basketball courts. Ninety-three teams will be represented that evening (47 baseball, 17 softball, 28 T-ball and 1 Challenger). Prior to the ceremony, your team will gather on either Field 4 or Field 2. Please see the list below to see where your team should meet. PLAYERS SHOULD ARRIVE AT EITHER FIELD 2 OR FIELD 4 NO LATER THAN 5:30 PM except THOSE PLAYING IN GAMES FOLLOWING OPENING CEREMONIES:

  • 50/70 baseball (Field 1): Red Sox @ Mets
  • Majors baseball (Field 2): Giants @ Yankees
  • Majors softball (Field 3): Georgia @ Texas A&M
  • Minors baseball (Field 6): Twins@ Mets

TEAMS PLAYING ON OPENING NIGHT SHOULD ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 5:00 PM BECAUSE THEIR TEAM PICTURES WILL TAKE PLACE BEFORE CEREMONIES BEGIN.  Instructions regarding team pictures will be sent directly to the individual teams.

Parents and guests – once you have left your child with his or her team’s coach, please proceed to the audience seating area in the Field 1 outfield. There is plenty of room if you want to bring a chair with you.

Players should be dressed in their uniforms and hats. There is no need to bring bats, gloves or any other equipment unless your child’s team is playing that night.

The program will conclude at approximately 7 pm.

With several hundred families expected to participate, please build in ample time for parking at the Lions Park lots as well as on the surrounding streets. In the event of inclement weather, please check the Zionsville Little League Facebook page, Twitter feed or communication directly from your coach about alternate plans for Opening Ceremonies.

Here is to a great 2016 season!
