ZLL is now accepting applications for new “Rookie” umpires.  This is a great opportunity for kids who love baseball and softball to earn money,  develop self-confidence, and enjoy the (mostly) great weather during the spring and early summer.

Below are the qualifications to be a ZLL umpire:

• Meet minimum age of 12 by Little League age determination guidelines (boys born before September 1, 2008 and girls born before January 1, 2008)
• Must possess good understanding of baseball/softball rules and game situation knowledge
• Must pass ZLL Rookie Umpire Test with score of 75% or better in first year
• Annually attend ZLL umpire training as required
• Review and Sign Umpire Waiver Form each year
• Approved by ZLL Umpire Office and remain in good standing with ZLL
• Available to umpire a minimum of one game per week between April and June (and September and October for optional fall ball season)

Applications are not required if the person has served as a ZLL youth umpire in previous years.
