Zionsville Little League celebrated its 60th Anniversary in style on Friday June 7. On a beautiful late spring evening, more than 150 players, family members, and ZLL alumni watched the inspirational movie “The Perfect Game” under the stars on Field 1 at Lions’ Park. In the audience was a family representing 3 generations of Zionsville Little Leaguers. Mr. George Shelburne, who played in ZLL during the very early years of the program in the 1950’s was present, along with his daughter Nadine Anderson and her hustband Steve, both former ZLL players, his grandsons, current ZLL players Alex and Sam Anderson.
Before the movie began the audience viewed a slideshow (view it on ZLL’s Facebook page) that combined vintage and recent photos of ZLL players and coaches. Door prizes, provided by sponsors Chromatics Studio, Zionsville Eyecare, and Zionsville Little League were awarded.
The evening also featured an inflatable slide for kids to burn off some energy from their free cupcakes before the movie began.
As part of the event, ZLL collected used baseball equipment for Play Ball Indiana.
ZLL appreciates the support of everyone who helped out with the evening, particularly the event’s sponsor, Duke Energy.
