ZLL’s recreation softball program provides a fun and competitive atmosphere for girls to learn softball skills and advance their level of play. It consists of three divisions: a coach-pitch program for ages 6, 7, and 8; and a player-pitch program for ages 9 through 12. Each level operates under separate rules and objectives.

Ages Description Objective
Rookie softball 6 through 8 Introductory recreational softball program with coach pitch. Instructional and recreational softball.  Winning and losing is de-emphasized in favor of developing skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
Minors softball 9 and 10 year olds with limited opportunities for advanced 8 year olds. First level of player pitch softball. Instructional and recreational softball.  Increased emphasis on developing skills and understanding of softball strategy and situations.  Increased level of competition without overly emphasizing winning and losing.
Majors softball 11 and 12 year olds, with limited opportunities for advanced 10 year olds Highest level of player pitch softball Instructional and recreational softball.  Strong emphasis on developing skills and understanding of softball strategy and situations.  Higher level of competition without overly emphasizing winning and losing.
