ZLL’s recreation baseball program is our oldest and most popular program.  We offer several different levels to provide fun experiences and skills development which are appropriate across a wide range of ages.

The information below is a quick summary of the different programs and age ranges for our typical Spring baseball season season.  Following the table are more detailed descriptions of the various programs.  If you have questions about our baseball program, please contact us at news@zionsvillelittleleague.org.

ZLL Baseball Divisions

Rookie (Tee Ball) is intended as an introduction for boys and girls ages 4-5 to develop baseball/softball skills.  The program provides a tee ball experience that is fun, fitness oriented and teaches the fundamentals.  Players will learn hand-eye coordination as well as learn the basics of the game.  Tee Ball is an 8-week long program consisting of a combined 30-minute practice and 30-minute game on Saturdays or Sunday afternoons.

Minors A Level is geared to 6-7 year olds and is generally a progression from Tee Ball.  It is where young players continue to learn, develop and practice fundamental skills at an early age.  It is also suitable for first-time players who have no prior experience. Players will continue to develop hand-eye coordination as well as learning the proper stance and swing techniques while gaining confidence in seeing a pitched ball from a coach.

Minors AA Level is mostly for 8 year olds.  Players will continue their development as well as learn a more competitive style of baseball.  A pitching machine is used for 100% of the game.

Minors AAA Level is for 9-10 year olds and will use a hybrid kid/machine pitch option. This program introduces player pitching where players will pitch a portion of innings and a pitching machine is used for the remaining innings. Players are assigned to teams based upon evaluations by league officials.

Major League is for players ages 11-12. This program is all kid pitch using the 46/60 diamond. This program emphasizes skill development in an increased level of competition. Players are assigned to teams based upon evaluations by league officials.
