The Show Must Go On – Opening Night is Friday April 26

After consulting with famed meteorologist Noah Arkin, who issued an all-clear signal on the weather, Zionsville Little League is pleased to announce that the long-awaited Opening Night Ceremony will be held On Friday April 26th.

The League has ridden some gnarly waves the last week.  A historic flood.  An amazing outpouring of community support to clean up our beloved Lions’ Park.  Another round of rain that threatened to repeat the rinse cycle.  Now we are ready to dip our toes in the water and get this season started.

Please join us for Opening Night (The Re-Do), and share the wonderful community experience of Little League baseball and softball at Lions’ Park.

We’ve had to adjust the schedule somewhat.  The ceremony will largely be the same, the teams playing in games may be different, and the team picture schedule has changed.  Otherwise, things will be similar to our original plans.  Except now we’ve learned a lot about this great town and the people who live in it.

Here are the particulars for the evening.

  • 5:30-5:45  Arrival of players – lining up at field 1 fence
  • 6:30pm    Opening Ceremonies Begin
  • 7:30pm    Night Games Begin
    • 50/70 Baseball – White Sox vs Reds
    • Majors Baseball – Cardinals vs Dodgers
    • Majors Softball Ball – Gators vs Orange Crush

Parents can pick up pre-ordered Opening Night t-shirts, purchase ZLL car decals, purchase misc. uniform items (salvaged from the flood!), and get themselves a box of popcorn before the show begins.

On Saturday, there will be a full slate of games.

Of course, all this is contingent on Noah Arkin’s weather forecast being correct.

A Note about Team Pictures:  Thanks to everyone for your understanding and patience regarding rescheduling team pictures. There were many factors that had to be considered in the new schedule.  Revised team picture schedules have been communicated to team managers.  If you have not heard from your manager about this, please contact them.  There are a handful of teams that do have to come to the park during a time when they are not playing or practicing.  An extra big appreciation to those coaches for making the most of a not so perfect situation!

Pictures will take place outside as long as the games and practices are taking place (by pine trees adjacent to exit lane of main park entrance). If games and/or practices are cancelled, pictures will be taken inside the Lions’ Clubhouse or shelter building. You will be notified of the location if the situation arises.
