Brewers reach Keraga Cup Championship game/Red Sox fall in Final Four

When the 2014 Keraga Cup baseball tournament of Indiana Little League District 8 Majors Rec teams began, 76 teams were vying for the crown.  At the end of the day on Saturday May 17, only two teams remained – including ZLL’s Daahl Roofing Brewers team managed by Scott Williams.  The Brewers now play the Brownsburg Dodgers for the title on Wednesday May 28 at Brownsburg at 7 pm.

The Brewers began their path to the championship with two victories on Saturday May 9 over the Avon Royals and the Danville Pirates.  The Brewers then endured a series of rain outs and cancellations that forced them to play 3 games in less than 18 hours.   On Friday May 16, the Brewers subdued the Avon Yankees 10-2 on fine pitching by 5 Brewers hurlers.  The next morning, the Brew Crew dismantled the Tri West Royal club 8-0 and the Broad Ripple Rangers 11-1.  All that stands in their way of the Keraga Cup are the Brownsburg Dodgers.

The championship game was nearly an all Zionsville affair, as the Red Sox, managed by Rob Schein, reached the Final Four, but were eliminated by the Brownsburg Dodgers for the opportunity to play the Brewers.  The Red Sox reached the Final Four with victories over the Eagle Creek Mariners on Thursday and the Avon Cubs on Saturday afternoon.

ZLL has had a high degree of success in the Keraga Cup in recent years.  In 2012, ZLL’s A’s team won the championship and the ZLL Yankees reached the final four.
