The 2013 ZLL Rec League Tournament provided exciting baseball and softball moments and memories.  Photos of tournament action and several winning team photos can be viewed on the ZLL Facebook page.

In the very first 50-70 Division Tournament, the Majac Electric White Sox maintained their mastery over their adversaries and completed their tournament run with an exciting 23-17 victory over the Akard True Value Yankees.  The White Sox finished the tourney with an unblemished 3-0 record and held off the Yankees – the survivor of the Elimination bracket.

The Majors Softball Division provided one of the most exciting moments when the LHD Benefit Advisors Bulldogs claimed the championship by holding off the Ameriflo Tide 1-0.  The Tide gallantly attempted to tie the score in the bottom of the 6th inning, but the Bulldogs snuffed out the rally by throwing out a runner attempting to score.

The Orange Leaf Orioles overcame great odds by surviving the Elimination Bracket and defeating the Subway A’s twice on Saturday evening to become the Majors Baseball champs.  The Orioles relentless offense guided them through the Elimination Bracket after losing a second round game.  In order to win the championship, the Orioles were forced to win games on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday night, and two games on Saturday.  The team won 6 games in 8 days.

The Leedy’s Trophy Phillies staved off a challenge from the Claghorn Custom Flooring Rockies on their way to the AAA Championship.  The Phillies won the tournament with 4 victories in 4 games.

The Lisa Jones Team Yellowjackets claimed the Minor Softball crown with their victory over the CVS Pharmacy Wolfpack on Saturday evening.  The Yellowjackets stood as the sole survivor in the Minors tournament, winning all three of their games.

The AA tournament championship was a tightly contested slugfest between the Carter Van Lines Diamondbacks and the Indy Game Truck Nationals.  The Diamondbacks ran out to an early lead, but faced multiple rallies by the Nationals.  The D’backs held on for one last time and won in a 24-23 bruising affair.

The Dr. Nicholson Dentistry Blue Jays prevailed over the IceMiller Indians to claim the Rookie 7/8 Championship.  The Jays survived a tough 8 team bracket to earn their crown.

In Rookie 6/7 baseball, the Primrose Schools of Zionsville Rockies overcame a big deficit late in the game to defeat the Lions’ Club Tigers.  The Rockies won three games in the 12 team tournament.

The Community Westview Hospital Cardinals were awarded first place in the Rookie Softball Division as part of a round robin event among the six participating teams.
