Sunday Showcase is an additional opportunity for players in Zionsville Little League (ZLL) to be on a team in which the players practice more, play additional games on Sundays, and compete against other leagues in a stronger competitive environment.
Players must try out for the team, pay additional fees above the normal registration fees, and the season is played simultaneously with the recreational season. The fee covers additional uniforms, equipment, tournament and umpire fees. Sunday Showcase players must play on recreational teams. The fee for 2013 is $150. This is in addition to the recreational league softball fees.
Depending upon the number of interested girls, the Vice President of Softball (Pete Huber), Director of Player Development (Bill Reid), and Player Agent (Ben McAfee) will determine the number of teams for each age group (10U & 12U). Ideally, each team will have a maximum of 12 players.
Evaluations for Sunday Showcase Softball are scheduled for Saturday, January 26, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., at West Middle School, and the process will include throwing, fielding and hitting drills. Factors in selection will include but not be limited to ability, availability, attitude and team needs. 10U evaluations will take place from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and 12U evaluations are scheduled from 12:00-3:00 p.m. Please contact either Bill Reid or Pete Huber, if you are unable to attend evaluations and are interested in participating.
In addition, Showcase participants will have an opportunity to participate in Open Gyms this winter at Boys & Girls Club West beginning in January. More details with dates/times will follow.
