Saturday concluded a busy day in the rec league baseball tournaments with nearly every team playing tournament games.
In the Majors baseball tournament, the Yankees defeated the Athletics, while the Cardinals prevailed over the Orioles in the Battle of the Birds. Meanwhile, the Reds tamed the Red Sox and the Cubs moved past the White Sox. Games resume on Monday as the Athletics, Orioles, Red Sox and White Sox aim to survive the double-elimination tournament. On Tuesday, today’s victors battle each other for the right to move on in the winner’s side of the bracket.
In the AAA baseball tournament, the Marlins climbed over the Rockies and they will play the Royals on Monday evening. The Twins set down the Jays and will play the Phillies in Monday’s late game. The Rockies and Jays will play the losing teams from Monday’s games on Tuesday. The winners survive the double elimination tournament
In the single elimination AA tournament, the Braves advanced past Nationals, the Pirates toppled the Mets, the Tigers clawed past the Rangers, and the Dodgers snuck past the Diamondbacks. The Braves will face the Pirates on Tuesday while the Tigers and Dodgers will battle on Wednesday. The winners of those games advance to Championship Saturday
